Hey there!

I’m Matt, founder of The SmallTown Craftsman

I’ve had a unique journey to get where I am today. I grew up in a small-town to a blue collar family who had a DIY attitude. My father had a woodworking shop in our backyard where I got my first exposure to the craft. There, I learned skills at an early age that would help me tremendously as time passed. A few Yeats later I found myself in Shop Class in high school, later followed by projects around the house when I became a home owner. Once I had my own space, I began my professional journey in woodworking and haven’t slowed down since!

My goal is to create a one of a kind piece that will stand the test of time so you can pass it down from generation to generation with confidence.

Along with a one of a kind piece, you’ll have a story to share with family and friends—I’ll document the building process along the way so you follow along and have a unique experience . I’m a one man show, so I can guarantee the craftsmanship behind each and every fiber.
